Laura # 3 – Nature x Nurture
May 21, 2009Do genetics answer everything about a person’s behaviour? No, experiences say much more. People are not born good or bad, but with a few predispositions that could or coudn’t happen. What determines our personality is our life history and the way we react to situations. For example, english sisters Judi Smith, 51 years and Ann Beaven, 45 who had been adopted by different families 35 years ago were recently reunited. They were able to identify phisical similiarities in each other suchs their eye color, the way they smiled or make a grimace, but swoed to have completly different personas. While Ann enjoys having a glass of wine now and then, Judi has radical opinions on alcohol and gave Ann a hard time about her life choices like regarding a career as mores important than having children and building a family. This example shows us that the values passed by their adoptive parents during their up bringing have overcomed the genes they share.
Do genetics answer everything about a person’s behavior? No, experiences say much more. People are not born good or bad, but with a few predispositions that could or coudn’t happen (eventually). What determines our personality is our life history and the way we react to situations. For example, English sisters Judi Smith, 51, and Ann Beaven, 45, had been adopted by different families 35 years ago, and (have been) recently reunited. They were able to identify (physical) similiarities in each other such (as) their eye color, the way they smiled or make a grimace, but (they have shown) to have completly different personas. (For instance,) while Ann enjoys having a glass of wine now and then, Judi has radical opinions on alcohol and gave Ann a hard time about her life choices like regarding a career (being) more important than having children and building a family. (In other words,) the values (handed down) by adoptive parents during (people’s) upbringing are more crucial than the genes these people share.
Very good structure
