Written exams shouldn’t be given so much importance in schools because exams may not be one of the students major strengths, they may be given at a time the student isn’t feeling well, and they don’t prove the students’ knowledge.
Tests may not be one of the students’ major strengths. Sometimes, someone is good at writing, sometimes at speaking, or at reading among others. After all, people are different and are not good at the same things (Lucia, this last sentence is a perfect example of what I was referring to. You need to make your sentences more sophisticated, like for example, “Schools should take into account the fact that students differ in terms of their learning styles, showing different strengths and weaknesses in several different academic areas.), the student may know everything about the issue, but when put in the paper the ideas may seem unclear. Let’s take me as an example, I’m not good in written exams but when it comes to speaking I can beat anyone, in 7th grade we had to read a book named “The Secret” and we had an exam I scored 10 out of 100, which was an absurd, because I had read the book, and some of my friends didn’t read it, as a matter of fact I was the one who had given them the plot, and they somehow managed to score more than me, so I went to my teacher and told her that I wasn’t happy with the results, so she gave me a second chance, this time I the exam would be oral, she was absolutely amazed by the way I told the story and I got the highest grade of the my whole class. All in all every person has his own flaws and qualities.
Exams may be at a time the student isn’t feeling well, it might seem ironic but the mood, health, and other things related to physical health and emotions as well interfere in the quality of the person’s work, if you’re told to write about a happy moment of yours when something bad has just occurred is going to be, beyond any doubt, much more difficult to write than when you’re happy. For instance, I have a friend, whose name is Alexia, she’s really good in Math her grades are always the best, but once we had a test and there wouldn’t be a makeup, she was feeling awfully sick but she had to go anyway, she couldn’t concentrate because she couldn’t help sneezing and coughing, eventhough she was one of the students that had most condition of passing she failed. So if exams are going to have that high value, at least that students could choose when to do them.
Exams don’t prove the students knowledge due to many things, it depends on the circumstances and the person, but exams have more importance than anything, mostly in High School, like mentioned before many things interfere in the way that the person is going to deal with the exam such as mood, health, education, the person’s affinities, to sum up not all intelligent people will have a satisfactory grades in their exams. Some scientist don’t agree with the I.Q test(it testes how high is a person’s level of intelligence), but when we were little, there was this kid, that couldn’t get a grade higher than the average, his parents were worried so they took him to the doctor, so that they could know why their son didn’t have the capacity, after the I.Q test if was proved that the kid, not only was normal, but he also had a higher level of intelligence than a normal kid of his age would have. Therefore, exams don’t prove anything about the person’s intelligence.
