Amay — Santa Claus
November 8, 2007Why do parents teach us not to lie, although they lie to us when it comes to Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny? I guess they don’t realise that they are teaching us not to lie by lying. Parents are always trying to make their children happy. That’s why they tell histories about the Easter Bunny and persuade their kids to have good behavior so that Santa will bring them presents. But what they don’t know is that the child will get very disappointed and sad when he or she realizes that the hole Santa story was only a fake one, fabricated to make them behave well. Luckily, my brother and I haven’t had to deal with this stories. When I was younger, my parents used to buy lots of chocolate eggs for my brother and me, and hide them in our apartament. To help us find them, they put many bunny foot prints all over the place. My brother and I felt like we were in heaven, even though we already knew that there was no Easter Bunny. As we grew up, instead of stopping hiding eggs and putting foot prints on the floor, my parents started to give us real presents, not only chocolate eggs, and still kept hidding them from us so we could look for them in our apartament. I really think that changing the presents form eggs to real things was a good idea because we didn’t have to go through the disappointment and sadness that other kids had to. That’s why parents shouldn’t teach their children not to lie by lying to them (Hummm, your conclusion sounded a bit rushed here. You need to expand the text a bit further to connect this idea of parents telling their kids about Santa and their kids not trusting them.)
Why do parents teach us not to lie, although they lie to us when it comes to Santa Claus or easter bunny?
I guess they don’t realise that they are teaching us not to lie by liyng. Parents are always triyng to make their children happy, that’s why they tell histories about the easter bunny and tell their kids to have a good behavior so that Santa could bring them presents. But what they don’t know is that the child will get very desapointed and sad when realises that it was only a fake history which was created to make them behave well.
Luckily, me and my brother haven’t been through this. When I was younger, my parents used to buy lots of chocolate eggs to me and my brother and hide them in our apartament. To help us find it, they put many bunny foot prints all over the place. Me and my brother felt like we were in heaven. As we grew up, instead of stop doing those things, my parents started to give us real presents, not only chocolate eggs, and still they kept hidding it from us, so we could look for them in our apartament. I really think that was a good idea because we hadn’t been through the desapointment and sadness that othres kids have.
