Fabiola – My Experience as a Flight Attendant

October 25, 2007

I am so proud of the sort of a person I became (What kind of person have you actually become?) after having experienced the flight attendant life. I was a 20 year old college dropout when moved from Cuiabá to Curitiba to try another college in a different city since I haven’t settled in Cuiabá principally because of the damp and hot weather. My aunt, who I was living with at the time, suggested me a flight attendant course instead of waiting six months to start another college. I figured, hey, what the heck; I’ll go to the open house, why not. (This sentence sounds a bit too informal for our writing purposes.) By the way, it was my cousin’s dream to become a stewardesses or hostesses as called before 1960’s, when men was not part of on this job yet. (How does this piece of information on your cousin connect to your idea of becoming a flight attendant?) So a year later I was in São Paulo for a second interview, and in training two weeks after that! (How did the selection process go?) There were lawyers, ballet dancers, a doctor, a dentist, 19 year-olds who have never even been to college, undecided people who were looking for a career to fit in (where?), like me, well I think that the flight attendant work force is one of the most diverse in the world (Why do you think such phenomenon happens?). The stress in the beginning was very high (Why is that? Where does all this stress come from?) and I really overcame huge obstacles (Like which ones exactly? Remember that in English, if you decide to mention an idea, you need to explore it and not just mention it). First of all, facing the job as a beginner in a profession where everything is based on seniority (How did that work exactly?). Second, living in São Paulo which was a challenge for me due to the cold feeling I felt every time I visited the city when I was a child (Really? Why was that? Were people cold towards you? You should share an experience showing us how cold you felt at that time.). And the last but not least trying to absorb smoothly that crazy and uncommon air crew lifestyle (Again, Fabiola, you are telling your reader how crazy and uncommon the crew’s lifestyle used to be. You need to show us how it was and not simply mention it). Now I can assure that I not only succeed in achieving all my goals but I also grew as a person and got better at all aspects of life and because of this I’m thankful so thankful for having an opportunity by chance to be part of the airline industry world. (Fabiola, here, you need to show your reader how this job helped you succeed in achieving your goals, and not simply tell us that the job has helped you succeed in your career.)
