Vanessa — Personal Letter
October 22, 2007Dear Rick,
I do not have much experience in writing but I enjoy doing it.When I was younger I used to write poems and short stories.Like I said before I do not have much time, so most of the writing that I do nowadays is inside of the class at Mobile.I do not feel that I am a good writer because I believe that I have to improve a lot my skills on writing.For example, I usually repeat in a composition the same word many times and this makes the writing boring.Also, I need to use different words to make the composition more “rich”.I am working very hard in writing at school because I want to be a journalist.
This bimester I want to set a goal for myself: I want to use in my writings most of the new vocabulary and also to write with the correct structure.I am more interested in working on vocabulary and form.
I will be very pleased if you help me to improve my english writing.I beleive that a good way to improve writing is to read.Can you reccomend any book to me?

Hi Vanessa,
I am glad you were able to finish up for letter to the teacher assignment. I am also glad that you are so eager to improve your writing abilities this bimester. Although vocabulary sophistication is an integral part of this course, there are some other areas we need to focus on before midterm that will help you improve your writing skills. As you will be able to see starting tomorrow, we will be focusing a lot on HOW Americans want you to structure your thoughts on paper.
