Cláudia — Introduction

October 16, 2007

My name is Cláudia, I’m 28 and single. I was born in Brazil and raised in the countryside of São Paulo. I have always wanted to live abroad, that is why I decided to study English. I’m majored in Engineering; however, I don’t work in this field. Moreover, I’m very interested in the new technologies that are spaning in the markets.  I also have a dream of studying abroad in a International Affair school and I believe that Alumni will help me to improve my English before going out to struggle in order to achieve this dream.

Thank you,

Cláudia

Fabiola — Introduction

October 16, 2007

Hello everyone,

I would say that in spite of living in São Paulo for roughly ten years, sometimes I feel like a stranger here. I was born in Rio de Janeiro but was raised in a small city 600 km far from São Paulo. You might be thinking what would be the reason for me to live here, so far from the beach. So, the reason was my first job and since the beginning I knew that to be a flight attendant one of the mandatory requirements was to live in São Paulo because most of the international flights take off from Cumbica’s airport and almost all the important air companies are located here. Today I don’t have any doubt that I accepted the idea very well in order to pursue dream, a wish but now since I’m not a flight attendant anymore I just accept the idea of living here because I need it.

Christiano — Introduction

October 16, 2007

Hi guys. I’m Christiano, 29,  I am from Santos but I’ve lived in Sao Paulo since 1996. I came here to study Business Administration and I realy loved this city so, I decided to find a job here and this decisision changed my life. I never thought I would work in Finantial Market but, believe me, I’ve been working in it for 10 years. I’m almost an addicted. Stock markets, currency markets, words that seems strange to 99% of population sounds like music to my ears. Probably, at this time some people are not interested anymore in my essay as 99% of population but this would be a shame because I have a lot of interesting things to tell.          Rgds,  Christiano

Mah — Introduction

October 16, 2007

Hey.. for those who don’t know me, my name is Marina but PLEASE, call me Mah (:

I’m 15 years old and I study at Bandeirantes – which, by the way, I hate more than anything. But, thank God, i’m going back to my old school next year, where I studied my whole life and it’s the place I consider my second home.

Besides school, I also take theather and guitar classes every week and have an alternative rock band for almost 3 years. I play the principal guitar and do most of the backvocals. The band is formed by me and other 3 friends – only girls – and we already recorded some of our own songs and last year we made a DVD. The band’s name is The Side, but please, don’t ask me why lol . The thing is that a veeeery long time ago, when we didn’t even know how to play well , a friend of us who lives in Santos, told us about a huge event that was going on, where lot’s of new bands were introduced to people and she called us! That night, we had to decided the name  AND the logo of the band. So, with all the emotional pression, you can imagine that the names were – most of them – absurd. Anyway, nowadays we had considered changing the name but now everybody we know is used to The Side.. (they already made us t-shirts and stuff! )

anyway, i guess that’s pretty much it , I don’t really like to describe myself like that.. it just gives me the impression that, in only a few words, a whole life can be elucidated.. all the feelings and the personality characteristics.. whatever, you get it, right?! lol

ps: yes, usually, what I write, doesn’t make any sense at all.. ;)

Lully — Introduction

October 16, 2007

mm… My name is Lucía, that’s because I was born in Uruguay. I came to live here when I was two, so I consider myself brazilian.

I study at a jewish school since I’ve started living here. I really like it. But now I’m applying for an american school, Graded School, because I want to go to college abroad.

I REALLY like singing, that’s pretty much what I do in my free time. I don’t have much(free time), because I need to study and I have all this extra curricular activities. I have to admit that I’m overwhelmed.

It might seem a little weird, but I don’t like soccer that much, like most people. Actually, I don’t like sports at all, as a matter of fact, I don’t do any. But I think soccer games are pretty exciting and I root for São Paulo since I was a little kid.

Rick — SPFC RULES!!!

October 16, 2007

For those who don’t know me, let me start with some personal background. My real name is Ricardo Nishioka, and not Rick, as most people call me. It is just that my dad is also Ricardo, so we have all agreed on Rick at home. I guess I have lost all the identification with the name Ricardo – at least when referring to myself (laughters).

Also, I was born here in São Paulo, unlike many of my students think. It is just that I was raised in Long Beach, California most of my life, and act more American than anything else — in spite of being of Japanese decent. But I must confess, though, that having developed a love for soccer in these last 8 years has helped me build stronger ties to this tropical country. Today, I would not leave the city of São Paulo for a new life in California anymore. How on earth would I be able to watch my SPFC games live?

As far as my professional background goes, I have got a Master’s Degree in Linguistics and Rhetoric, and worked as a Freshmen Composition instructor at California State University Long Beach in the early 90’s. When my green card was rejected by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, I was forced to come back to Brazil, and have been (happily) working as a teacher at Alumni Association since 1997.

Hi Guys!

October 16, 2007

Welcome to our Alumni Writing 1 Blog! We will be using this blog as a way to give each other feedback. There will be two classes involved in this project, which is an intrinsic part of our course. We will be using both the themes in Alumni’s Writing 1 folder as well as others that will probably come about as we progress into the course. We all hope we enjoy this experience.

Truely,

Rick
